Water Reading

Life and death matters, yes. And the question of how to behave in this world, how to go in the face of everything. Time is short and the water is rising.

~ Raymond Carver

Essential nature requires two paths for every journey.
One roars large, a froth of concerned water, the other
crouched and motionless, it’s black depths swirl silent.

As undulating tensions prove finite you surface into
a splintered present, a view absent reference
the crude frames of your chaotic world.

Visible past exposed, invisible future unknown,
a churning battle of water against time.
